Montana is poised to be the first state to test this new legal strategy that would short-circuit Citizens' United.
Organizers submitted their proposed ballot initiative, the Transparent Election Initiative, to their Secretary of State's office and are seeking volunteers for their petition signature gathering events starting in January 2026.
